DALAT
Dalat is a hill station in the central highlands. The altitude of
1475 m warrants rather cold nights. It was founded in 1897 by
Alexander Yersin, who first discovered the plague bacillus. Dalat is
located in Lam Dong province, It 's lacated 300 km from
Ho Chi Minh City. when Doctor Alexandre Yersin recommended
that the area be developed as a resort town. Once
called the 'Paris of the East', it has now become a favorite
honeymoon spot.

Da Lat has many homes built of wood
much like the Swiss chalets found in the Alps. It also has many
grand villas built by French officials during the early part of the
century. Many more villas were built by the South Vietnamese
officials in the 60s. Dalat is well know for its lakes, waterfall
and pine forest. Xuan Huong(Spring Lake),Da Thien Lake and Van
Kiep Lake. The Lake and the other natural sites were poetically
named as they are closely related to memories.

Valley of Love The famed 'Valley of Love' looks nice, Approximately 5km north of
the centre of Da Lat on Phu Dong Thien Voung Rd. the valley of love
is circled by hill covered with pine trees. The place has taken on a
carnival atmosphere. During Bao Dai King's reign, the valley was
called Peace valley. The summer
palace of the last emperor, Bao Dai, is open to
visitors. The 25-room villa was built in 1933. Admission is 1$
Xuan
Huong is a very beautiful
lake located in the centre of Dalat City. Previously, Xuan Huong was
a big lake in Dalat that was 5 sq. km in the shape of a
crescent moon. Xuan Huong lake is a poetic site, attracting leisure
visitors; it is also a popular rendezvous site for lovers
Linh Son Pagoda is
located on a hill 700m from the center of Dalat.This attractive
pagoda, built in 1938, is still in very good condition. Among the
dozens of monks who take care of the pagoda is Thich Tu Man, who has
been in charge since 1964. The center for Buddhism in Dalat is
exclusively for men.
The ethnic villages (Lat and Chill) around
Dalat was a bit depressing. The people
have lost their semi-nomadic lifestyle and now live in what seems to
be enforced poverty. They will soon be integrated into ordinary
Vietnamese life.

Dalat's Pine Lake Golf Course was the first to open, or rather
re-open, in Vietnam after the war. Its 18 hole course was opened at
the 24 February 1994, but a 9 hole course was already founded in the
1920s, being the first golf club in Southeast Asia.
Dam Ri waterfall from Dalat
100 km on the way to HO CHI MINH CITY,visitor can stop by Bao Loc ,

the city to the airport takes about 30 minutes and costs USD 3.
